Has it been this long since Ive updated this blog? Wow! So much has happened since September. I have started a new job in customer service and have had to give up my volunteer position at the homeless shelter. Im not happy about that but what can you do in times when money is needed? I have also moved to a new apartment and my landlord has left me with ultra white walls as a blank slate. I will get to decorate any way I choose. YEAH! Another big change is that I will soon be a Nana. Kind of puts things back into perspective for me because with the arrival of this little one I have to one day admit I am no longer 21yrs old.
I have thought about going out to get some pics of the winter here; since its my first in this city I thought I might find something new. As it turns out snow is snow no matter where you go. I would much rather stay indoors and take photos of my plants. All three of my plants. The only one putting on a show is the Paper Whites narcissis and really they are a plant that anyone can grow, The motto for Paper Whites is 'just add water'. No rocket science there. I have also decided to try my hand at abstract painting. I have two canvases ready to go and all I have to do is add paint. If I dont get to it soon I will stress about what it will look like and then make a mess. If I get it done without overthinking it then it might turn out ok. if they are presentable and wall-worthy I will upload a pic. I have a tendency to over-plan and then the fun gets taken out of it....if I do it spur of the moment then the results are usually ok. The Paper White (below) was done the minute I jumped out of bed. I grabbed my Kodak digital and snapped this without even thinking about how it would turn out. Its no masterpiece but its definitely a decent shot.
Since I have crashed both of my computers I have had to rely on the library for my internet use. My phone is virtually useless in the web browsing side of things but it can send a quick text. Reception is never 100% so I just come to the library. My walk here is never uneventful because of the hundreds of personalities that are here. For instance I saw a young woman wearing a heavy jacket, mini skirt, fishnet stockings and silver boots almost to her knees. My first thought was to offer her my sweater to cover her legs but a closer look revealed she was actually on the job. The money cant be that good is it?
Well Im off to work, till next time (and I hope it wont be in six months from now)
