Its been so long since my last update. I guess the reason is that its been too hot to go outside and when Im inside I just cant think. Emailing and web research is about all I can manage this week because Im too afraid to move. The computer is non-responsive at best because of the humidity. Word of advice: if you notice your mouse (or mouse pad for laptop users) has stopped working it more than likely is the humity. Time to give the computer a rest. It gets enough abuse from the processor chip which can run up to 70c.
Right now Im sitting here at a big window watching another thunder storm come in. We had a dandy yesterday but it didnt even touch the crazy heat outside. Hopefully this is the last of the melting pot we are living in.
If you are a film user in this heat, remember to keep your film in cooler temperatures. Black and White film can be stored in the freezer however colour film should never be frozen...fridge is best. One of my professors in college told us that he bought a deep freeze especially for all his film. He had it stocked full at all times and he said when film becomes obsolete, he will be the "Mad Max of the Non-Digi Photography World" I think he was onto something. If you have ever had your colour film melt on you, you will know what Im talking about. Its very frustrating when you know you have that prize winning shot only to find out that all your colours look like a Van Gogh. Its a good experiment to try if you are so inclined however I dont suggest cutting off your ear to get the full effect.
Another experiment I like to try when Im using film is good old vaseline on the lens. Messy...yes, effects....vary depending on how thick you put it on and whether or not you have a design. I would suggest you put it on a starlight filter rather than directly on the lens (filters can be washed in warm water, your lens cannot)
Ok - Im off to wipe the sweat off something, anything because everything here is sweating. Even the tepid water on the desk is sweating.
