Well yesterday we went to start another garden job. This time just weeding and cleaning up. It was long overdue so I thought it would take 5-6 hours. When we got there I saw the ground was full of humus and quite unfettered so it made the job easier. There was nothing holding this soil in the raised bed once we cleared it out. I like that when it comes to weeding however a good solid rain will wash it clear across the street. We have to get something in there to hold it down.
That was the fun part of the day. let me start from the beginning. All week we have had hotter than hades type weather and I was actually afraid that we wouldnt be able to finish in one day. At 6am I heard the bay doors of the sky open up and it was a steady downpour for 30 minutes. I thought for sure this job I lined up would have to be postponed BUT I got up anyway. Loaded the Jeep with the tools, came in and made coffee, mentally massaged my work partners brain (she was still sleepy and a bit sick with a cold) and off we went. There was a feeling of someone upstairs watching us because anytime we were outside the rain was light but when we were under the trees the skies opened up again. After four hours of dogding bullets and avoiding getting completely soaked we finished with great results. The yard looks so much better now. We loaded up the Jeep with all our tools and just as we hopped in to leave the skies opended up again. Was it luck or was the grand sceme of things looking out for us? You decide. Oh and when we got home the clouds parted and the temps soared to an unbearable 28 degrees again with enough humidity to cook a pot of corn.
oh and the homeowner was impressed and wants to book an appointment to do landscaping now. I have to remind myself to actually bring the camera and not just remind myself to bring it.
Tune in next time - when that will be I cant say for sure.
